Frequently Asked Questions
I've heard there are certain foods that can be harmful to dogs. Are any of these used in your treats?
No. Chocolate, onions, grapes and raisins are some common food items that have adverse effects on a dog's body. We do not use these items in our treats. We use alternatives that are completely safe for your canine.
What is carob?
The Carob tree is an evergreen shrub or tree native to the Mediterranean region, cultivated for its edible seed pods. The flesh of the pods tastes somewhat similar to sweetened cocoa, but contains no theobromine (caffeine) and is often used as a hypoallergenic substitute. For this reason, it is considered non-toxic to dogs.
I know your treats are all-natural and do not contain preservatives. So, how long do they last?
Quite honestly, it depends on how you store them. If you keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, our "Paw-sitively Gourmet" treats can last up to 2 months on average, with the Barkery Bones lasting considerably longer. The best results seem to come from storage in the refrigerator and freezer. Our treats do not contain preservatives and must be stored with this in mind.
How do you ship items to me?
Our packages are all shipped via USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground. Average shipping takes about 2-5 business days, depending on the area in which you live. We are located in Hamilton, NJ (just outside of the capital of Trenton), so you can judge your delivery time based on your distance from there, with closer locations taking fewer days.
What happens if an item(s) is damaged during shipment?
If severe damage occurs to one or more of your items during shipment, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your order. We will file a claim with the shipper in order to secure a full refund for you for the item's value plus shipping (if applicable). This process can take anywhere from 2 to 10 weeks, however, so please keep in mind that sometimes a few bones may be broken in transit. If just a handful have normal damage, the shipper may deny our claim. We will do everything we can to help you if damage does occur.
What is your return policy?
If you're not happy, we're not happy.
We're willing to do all we can to make things right if something gets messed up along the way, but as is the case pretty much anywhere, we cannot accept returns of any food products, for any reason, once items are shipped to you. If you change your mind about one or more items in your order before shipment occurs, please don't hesitate to contact us. We'll be more than happy to help you fulfill your needs.
On the other hand, any toys, treats, collars, leashes, harnesses or other non-food items in new condition can be returned within 30 days of the original purchase date if you are unhappy with them. Guaranteed items (i.e. Lupine collars/leads, Planet Dog Orbee toys) have a satisfaction/dog damage guarantees and will be replaced once for you regardless of condition. In either case, you MUST contact us BEFORE returning your items in order to ultimately receive proper credit and/or reimbursement. When returning items for any reason other than a mistake on our part, you will be responsible for paying return shipping.

Of course! Our entire line of Barkery Bones, Nibblers, Big Bitz and Itsy Bitsies as well as our Healthy Bites line and P-Nutty for Carob Bones in our gourmet line are ALL wheat, corn and soy free! And we're always trying to expand our line of hypoallergenic treats--so check back often to see what's new .
